Cypress trees on the hills of the Val d'Orcia at sunset

Wedding in Val d'Orcia

Wedding in Val d'Orcia

Rolling hills, cypress-lined roads and Renaissance villages south of Siena: the Tuscany everyone imagines. We plan weddings and elopements here, from the town hall to the last glass under the stars.

In short

Getting married
in the Val d'Orcia.

  • At a village town hall: San Quirico d'Orcia, Trequanda or another village of the Val d'Orcia. We book it and prepare your documents.
  • Among the hills: a symbolic ceremony at a farmhouse or a wine estate, facing the cypresses, written with you in your languages.
  • At the Madonna di Vitaleta: the little chapel among the cypresses, one of the most famous views in Tuscany. We can hold your wedding there.
  • Just the two of you: few places in Tuscany are as lovely for an elopement.
  • In church: with your civil wedding done at home first, we look for the right one. Catholic weddings.
  • Documents: yours depend on your nationality, and we take care of them from start to finish.

The Val d'Orcia

The Tuscany
of postcards.

South of Siena, the Val d'Orcia is a landscape of soft hills, wheat fields and cypress trees, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. Pienza, Montalcino, San Quirico d'Orcia and Bagno Vignoni are all here, with Montepulciano just beyond.

It is one of the most photographed corners of Italy, and a beautiful setting for a wedding: wide views, golden light at sunset and a slower pace that guests remember.

Near San Quirico d'Orcia

The chapel of the
Madonna di Vitaleta.

A small stone chapel standing alone on a hill, framed by cypresses, with the Val d'Orcia all around: the Madonna di Vitaleta is one of the images that the whole world associates with Tuscany, and couples ask us for it again and again.

We can hold your wedding there. We take care of the arrangements with the chapel, the ceremony and the photographer, so you only have to enjoy the view.

Val d'Orcia wedding venues

Farmhouses, estates
and old hamlets.

Here you won't find big hotels. The places to celebrate are restored farmhouses and wine estates, villas with gardens and small hamlets brought back to life, many with rooms for all your guests: ideal for a long weekend together.

Tell us how many you will be and the atmosphere you dream of: we find the place and organise everything there.

Town halls in the Val d'Orcia

A legal wedding
in a Renaissance village.

We take care of your civil wedding in the town halls of the Val d'Orcia and the villages around it, such as San Quirico d'Orcia and Trequanda. We choose with you the one closest to your venue and free on your date, book it, prepare your documents and bring the interpreter, so on the day you only have to say yes.

How we help

What we do
in the Val d'Orcia.

  • We find the farmhouse or the estate where you and your guests can stay together
  • We book the town hall of the nearest village and take you to every appointment
  • We set the ceremony among the hills at the best hour for the light
  • We bring the celebrant, the photographer, the flowers and the music to the hills
  • We organise the transfers along the country roads
  • We plan your guests' free days too, from the thermal pools of Bagno Vignoni to the wineries of Montalcino and Montepulciano

Leave us everything, or only the day itself: the ways we work.

Good to know

Far from the airports,
worth the journey.

The Val d'Orcia is about two hours by car from Florence or Rome, and its villages are spread out over the hills. That is part of its charm, and the reason transport needs planning from day one.

Among these hills there are no taxis. The app you may know as Uber shows, in Italy, only private drivers (NCC), at very high fares, and booking minibuses for every trip quickly adds up.

So here more than anywhere we suggest a farmhouse or an estate where everyone sleeps, eats and celebrates in one place, with rental cars for the days around the wedding. We arrange the rest, including the transfers from the airport if you want them.

Questions, answered

The Val d'Orcia:
your questions.

Can we have a legal wedding in the Val d'Orcia?

Yes, in the town halls of the area, such as San Quirico d'Orcia or Trequanda. We book the town hall, prepare the documents for your nationality and come with you to the declaration and the ceremony.

Can we get married at the chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta?

Yes. The chapel near San Quirico d'Orcia is one of the places couples ask us for most in the Val d'Orcia, and we can hold your wedding there: tell us your date and we organise everything.

Can we elope in the Val d'Orcia?

Yes, and it is one of the loveliest places in Tuscany to do it: a ceremony among the cypresses, a photographer, dinner for two or for a few. See elopements and micro weddings.

When is the best time for a wedding in the Val d'Orcia?

From April to October, both included. Spring paints the hills green, early summer turns the wheat gold, and in July and August we plan the ceremony for the cooler hours of the evening.

How far is the Val d'Orcia from Florence and Rome?

About two hours by car from either city. We organise the transfers for you and your guests, so nobody has to worry about driving.

How much does a wedding in the Val d'Orcia cost?

It depends above all on the place and on how many guests stay with you. Every wedding is quoted individually, with no fixed packages: share your plans and we send you a proposal.
